20 Excellent Questions when Hiring a Cleaning Service!
It is extremely important to gather a lots of information when hiring a cleaning service. The process should never be rushed if you want to get it right the first time. Your relationship with your cleaning service should be a good one and the one way you can acheive this is to ask a lot of questions up front! We thought we would help you in the matter. Check out 20 important questions you can ask when interviewing cleaning services that will make your decision making easier. We have also included the answers from Kidwell's Kleaning for you!
1. Are you insured and bonded?At Kidwell's Kleaning, we are insured and bonded. (Since 1990 actually!)
2. How many employees do you have?We currently have between 13 and 16 cleaning technicians and 2 office staff.
3. Has everyone passed a background and drug test?All our cleaning techs have passed a background and drug test, in fact most of our cleaning techs have been here over 8 years! We have very low turnover in an industry that typically has high turnover.
4. Do you have a list of the scope of work you will be doing?Absolutely, we have a standard cleaning list we work from and additional cleaning items we are able to do as requested.
5. What if I would like to add additional cleaning items?Simply call our office a couple days ahead of time and we can schedule those additional cleaning items for you!
6. How much notice is needed if I wish to skip cleaning?We ask for a minimum of 48 hour business notice so we have time to fill the slot being held for your home.
7. Do you have a last-minute cancellation fee?Kidwell's Kleaning has a $75 last minute cancellation fee.
8. Do you have contracts? We do not have contracts! But we do ask for a minimum of 48 business hour notice to cancel any cleanings as this will waive the last minute cancellation fee for you.
9. Will I be getting the same cleaner each cleaning?In as much as we can, however when cleaning techs go on vacation, are sick, on maternity leave, etc., we will send someone else so your cleaning isn't affected whatsoever! We have a customized work order on your home that each cleaning tech will have when cleaning your home. It is easier to schedule the same cleaning tech when a cleaning is weekly or biweekly.
10. Do you work in crews, or do you send one person?We typically send one person for each home but may send a crew for initial cleanings which may require more time.
11. Do I need to supply equipment and supplies?You don't need to supply anything but trash bag liners or perhaps Tilex that may be needed in the shower stall for mold. Kidwell's Kleaning has everything else needed! If you wish, you can supply a 3 step stool as well. We are not able to climb ladders unfortunately.
12. What happens if something is broken in my home? We have a process we follow. The cleaning tech calls the office and lets the customer know if they are home. We then reach out to our customer about the situation.
13. What chemicals will you be using in my home? We currently use Clean by Peroxy, Dawn dish soap, Comet Soft Cleanser, Envirox virucide, Barkeeper's Friend, 100% cotton cleaning towels, scrubby cleaning towels, and microfiber buffing towels.. All towels are washed and clean in each home we clean, we never use used cleaning towels from one house to another!
14. What if I wish to supply something that I prefer? No problem! We just ask that it is left on the kitchen countertop and you notify the office so we can add this information to your work order.
15. How do you handle entrance into my home for cleaning? We can use a lock box, a door code, a hidden key, a garage code, or our customer can let us in!
16. How do you handle complaints? We ask complaints be called into the office so we have the opportunity to fix anything that may have gone wrong. We always want to know about any complaints you may have! We value open communication.
17. What if I wish to change the frequency of my cleanings?Not a problem at all, we are flexible!
18. Do I need to do anything with my pets? For the best cleaning results possible, it would be good to secure your pets.
19 . Do I need to be here when you come to clean?You do not need to be home on cleaning day, but you can if you would like to! We just ask for a level to ourselves as we are trained to clean in a very specific and methodical way. We work Monday through Friday and are open from 8 to 4. We even send a text to your phone when we are on our way for your convenience!
20. How do you clean hard flooring?We first vacuum your hard flooring thoroughly and then mop the floors using a neutral cleaner.
